The SOGIN, "società di gestione impianti nucleari", became owner since 1999 of the Garigliano Nuclear Power Plant. But this plant is stopped since 1978 for a damage.
In 1982 ANSA, the italian press agency, documented when the plant was not reopened because it cost too much to put at norm with the anti-seismic rules. Normatives were totally ignored, incredibly, when the nuclear power plant was built.
Sogin also says that they "care for the trasparency"... and they "don't know anything" about the accident that caused shut down in 1978. But however, in its official web site, SOGIN says, generically, that the plant was stopped in 1978 because "manutention". This nuclear power plant is 50 years old and it is "evident"...
Now it is shut down but it created many troubles, problems, in the last years also as "inactive" plant.
Malformations in the animals and children. Lethal malformations often. Cancers, leukemias and also sea pollution with Caesium 137, Cobalt60, over 1700 square kms. And this is the result of four ecological radio operations conducted by Enea between 1980 and 1982.

This plant is in Sessa Aurunca. We have been alone with this problem, abandoned by the institutions. Even the local sanitary authority has not manifested, ever, any interest to deal with this disaster. They are the Authorities where we have asked to make also epidemiological investigations. Without getting any answer.
About dismantlement has been talking from thirty years: biblical times. During this long closing, in the plant there have been accumulated 2572 meters cubes of radioactive cinders.
